Prof. Kaustuv Manna’s pioneering Heusler research combines materials discovery, single-crystal growth and electrical transport to uncover the interplay between magnetism and topology. He grew the crystals and performed the electrical-transport measurements in the foundational studies, establishing the experimental basis for Berry-curvature engineering and large anomalous Hall responses. His crystals enabled collaborative discoveries of magnetic Weyl lines, drumhead surface states and linked-loop quantum states in Co₂MnGa. The wider programme encompasses anomalous Nernst effects, Heuslers with high Curie temperatures, magnetic shape-memory behaviour, spin-glass physics, magnetic recording and catalysis—connecting fundamental quantum magnetism with technological opportunities.
